Nyoongar Dreamings Exhibition

 

 

Balancing in the space between cultural heritage and modernised society, ‘Nyoongar Dreamings’
surveys nationally recognised contemporary Nyoongar artists.
The exhibition is guest curated by Julian Goddard,
Head of Department of Art, Curtin University.

 

The exhibition starts on 6 July and finishes on 31 July

Indigenous culture through a series of interactive workshops.

Listen to the unique sounds of the didgeridoo and learn
about traditional song and dance.
See if you can pick the sounds of our native Australian animals!

Nyoongar Birdiyia Neville Collard teaches the
traditional art of rock painting. Get creative and paint your
own rocks to take home!

Fancy a bite of kangaroo, emu or even crocodile?
Be brave and taste samples of bush tucker while learning about
how local bush foods were collected and eaten.
(Please note – sample sizes only. Meals are available for
purchase at the Café.)

Kick a footy with rising Indigenous stars from the
West Coast Eagles Football Club.
Learn how to play like a pro and even get
some autographs from your favourite team!

Indigenous sisters Maureen Foster and Gloria Bliss
teach the basics of Aboriginal art. See a giant mural come to life
as you add the shapes and colours you have learnt.

Kulbardi Boorndoon Dance feature seven young Indigenous dancers
aged 10 to 16 accompanied by the didgeridoo.
Fresh from a trip to China teaching others about their culture,
the boys will perform an inspiring traditional dance for all ages.
